Twin Rivers Ranch\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Flying Tail Farms ended the season on a high note at Twin Rivers Ranch! Sarah Ertl made the big move from preliminary to Intermediate and did so quite successfully! Aylish Arana Made the move from to training to prelim and showed that hard work is paying off with a 6th place finish!! Megan Violand moved her pony to beginner novice successfully and Leah Tobias finished the year moving Oakley up to training and Michael winning his preliminary divisions! Congrats to all our riders on a great show and thank you to Twin Rivers for taking this date over. We are looking forward to training during the off season and cant wait to get back out there in 2021!<\/p>\n

Woodside, Twin Rivers and Galway Downs<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

Woodside was a super event for everyone at Flying Tail Farms. Kelly Goodman Pugh and Ringwood Trendsetter had a competitive outing in the open intermediate division coming in less than a point out of 1st. Katie Dillon had a great weekend ending on her dressage score which was good enough for 2nd in the Jr. Training division. Elle Meehan added one rail to her score for 6th place finish in the preliminary rider division. Ella Garcia finished on her dressage score for a 7th place finish in the jr. training b division. Aylish Arana returned to the show ring after over a year with a competitive 6th place finish in the training division! Leah Forquer had a successful first event with her knew mount Forgotten Emblem with a 5th place finish in the training division and an educational weekend with her other horse Oakley in the novice division! Faith Farrell ran novice and proved her and Case Closed are ready to move up to traini! Megan Violand made her eventing debut in the intro division and also proved she is ready to move on up the levels!<\/p>\n

Unfortunately with the timing of the fires our horses were exposed to bad air quality for too long a period with too many missed training days. Everyone scratched with the exception of Ringwood Trendsetter going to do just the dressage test.<\/p>\n

Galway Downs was a\u00a0good event for FTF. Leah Forquer Tobias and Ella Garcia both competed in the training modified division with successful results! Leah also successfully competed in the novice challenge division on her other horse Oakley. As always Robert Kellerhouse did an outstanding job running a quality international event. Thank you for all you do for west coast eventing!<\/p>\n

Twin Rivers<\/span><\/h2>\n

Our season finally started back up again this past weekend at Twin Rivers! We all adjusted to the new normal of face masks and social distancing and are so thankful to the team at Twin Rivers for safely running this event! A special congratulations to Emma Meehan on winning her division with her horse Socrates!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Aside from Twin Rivers we also want to welcome Kelly Waltons new horse Sterling to the barn.We are beyond excited to see what the future holds for these two!<\/p>\n

\u00a02020 Mid Year\u00a0Update<\/span><\/h2>\n

We are hoping all our friends and family are staying healthy and safe with COVID 19. We are lucky enough here at Flying Tail Farms to continue riding and training and we have made the most with this break from competing to fine-tune our skills. We were also lucky enough to be able to go to Twin Rivers last weekend to participate in their schooling rounds and cross country schooling. Currently looking forward to competing at their competition in July. This would be our first show back since the pandemic and we are so grateful to them for their efforts to make this a safe and successful outing.<\/p>\n

Aside from showing we would also like to welcome Oakley to the barn. He is the newest mount for our vet and client Leah Forquer-Tobias and we are so excited to see these two excel!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Off to a Successful Start<\/span><\/h2>\n

2016 has been a successful year so far! David and Candace Garretts Corazon \u201cToddy\u201d started the year with a 2nd place finish at FCHP CCI*. He went on to win the CCI** at Twin Rivers and is currently gearing up for the CCI** at Rebecca Farms. I would also like to welcome Partly Cloudy CF to the barn, owned by both Jenny Bardsley and Dayna Lynd Pugh. She is a lovely young mare who shows tons of promise for the future! Brynn Littlehale recently imported a young horse from Germany to add to her string and we can\u2019t wait to see what the future holds for them! She also has successfully moved Amigo up to training! In other exciting news Olga Londa has successfully moved up to the Prelim level and Katie, Leah and Georgina have successfully moved up to the training level! We also would like to welcome Joan Hankins new horse Cloud and we would like to re-welcome Beverly and her two lovely horses Olli and Frenchie to the barn and Cat and her two horses to the barn! Beverly and Cat have both been long time clients and we are so excited to have them back apart of the FTF family! Lexi has recently started leasing a new horse and we are so excited for them to make their eventing debut. Little Emma recently went cross country schooling for the first time and we are so proud of her! Laci and Rachelle have been making so much progress along with Sandra, Joey, Cathy, and Cubby! We have enjoyed having Cadence and her mare Kedrah here for the summer and watching all the progress they have made as well. We are coming into the Summer season and I’m so excited for all our riders and what’s in store for them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Apart from the riders and horses, I would like to welcome three new sponsors to team FTF. Style Stocks, TheraPlate, and Majyk Equipe! I’m so lucky to have such a great support team behind me and my horses.<\/p>\n

2015 Recap<\/span><\/h2>\n

2015 was a very successful year for Flying Tail Farms! Kelly Pugh acquired the ride on David and Candace Garrett’s Corazon and together they won the CCI1* at Rebecca Farms, the Open Intermediate division at Copper Meadows, and the CIC2* at Woodside Horse Trials.\u00a0Holly Garrett also had a very successful year, wrapping it up by placing 6th in the CCI1* at Galway Downs and getting the ride on her new horse, Corvette.\u00a0Olga Londa cleaned up this year, winning three events and ending the season by winning the Training Three-Day at Galway Downs.\u00a0Ainsliegh Mitchell came home on her break from college and competed at Rebecca Farms, coming home with 2nd place in the Training Three-Day! Natalie Kuhny won the Young Rider Championship division at Copper Meadows on her horse Casey. We would also like to congratulate Joan Hankin on the purchase of her new horse Carlo, and Brynn Littlehale on the purchase of her new horse Amigo!<\/p>\n

A Busy Season<\/span><\/h2>\n

It’s been a busy season for everyone at FTF. The most recent results include Kaitlin Veltkamp coming in 3rd in the Advanced at Woodside. Cathy Rich completed the novice division coming in on her dressage score. Natalie Kuhny came in 5th in the prelim challenge and Olga added another training level to her record!<\/p>\n

We now have an exciting month of July to look forward to with Ainsliegh Mitchell representing Area VI in the North American Junior Young Rider Championships CCI*. We are so proud of her and excited for her!<\/p>\n

Natalie and Kaitlin are making the trek to one of our most favorite competitions, Rebecca Farms in Montana! Both girls are ready to go and rock their FEI divisions!<\/p>\n

Wrapping Up The Season<\/span><\/h2>\n

Flying Tail Farms finished the year at the wonderful Galway Downs. They always do such a fantastic job and this year was no exception. The cross country courses were all new courses and asked all the appropriate questions. We brought a decent amount of horses, six in total and three of those rides being Kelly’s.<\/p>\n

Natalie Kuhny rode in the CCI one star and finished on her dressage score. A huge accomplishment for them! Brynn Littlehale completed her first CCI two star and it was a very demanding two star at that! Another huge accomplishment! On top of that Brynn has been selected for the “under 25” list to take lessons with David O Connor! We are very proud to have her representing FTF.\u00a0Kelly rode three horses over the weekend and it could not have been done without the help of super groom Kassi McMillan. Every horse seemed to do a different phase everyday! Sportsfield Condi started the weekend by competing in the Young Event Horse Championships and put in a solid effort all weekend long. He then went on to compete in the long format training three day and in a huge division of around 50 horses he plced second only .3 out of first! For a 5 year old this was a wonderful weekend! Congratulations to all of his owners! Tito went on to finish his first preliminary and proved he was ready to make the move up! Tito is still being offered for sale! Check our sales page<\/a> for details. The rest of our horses and riders put in great efforts all weekend and I couldn’t be more proud. This sport is challenging and will be full of ups but unfortunately more often full of downs and its how you handle it all that makes you a good competitor. Thank you Robert for putting on \u00a0fantastic competition! After Galway\u00a0Kelly\u00a0took Katie Patton to Fresno County Horse Park so she could compete her new horse in the training division. (Congrats on your new ride!!) She only had a couple rides on the horse prior to the weekend and they both enjoyed getting to know each other over the weekend. FCHP has made huge leaps and bounds and we are so excited the show is continuing to stay in our area.<\/p>\n

All the horses are enjoying a bit of vacation getting fat, muddy and hairy and FTF cant wait for the 2014 season!!<\/p>\n

Brynn Littlehale came in 2nd in the intermediate championships and fifth in the open intermediate. Natalie Kuhny came in 5th in the prelim championships! Kelly and Sportfield Condi won the open training division, came in third in the YEH and are ready to move up to prelim at Galway. Tito jumped two beautiful rounds and is ready for his move up to prelim at Galway.<\/p>\n

Kaitlin Veltkamp and Flashpoint D (Open Preliminary Rider) 5th place<\/p><\/div>\n

Kaitlin Veltkamp is super happy with her 5th place ribbon in the open prelim as she should be, her first event back in almost two years. Olga came off course smiling and so happy yesterday, she now believes me that she is ready for training level at Woodside. Katie Patton rode super well and very determined this weekend, I was so proud of her, but as all of us know, sometimes our super sweet mares decide that this may not be their super sweet weekend.<\/p>\n

Natalie Kuhny and Case Closed II (Sonoma Saddle Preliminary Rider Championships) 6th place<\/p><\/div>\n

I am not worried, we have a week and a half to convince her otherwise. Rockefeller also will use this week to try to relax more around the show jumps. He is silly because he eats up the cross country and gives every jump an extra foot, but the show jumps scare him, I know Kelly will show him how to win. It felt so perfect to have Teresa Harcourt back with us for the weekend,, FTF has missed her. Thank you to the Baxter family for hosting such a great event and many thanks to Katie Trafton and Shannon Lilley for putting up with me in the office eating all of your starbursts, you guys work SO hard, now I know.
